The Second Life of Waste Paper at Pardaugava School
Students could collect and sort the paper into three parts: A) paper; B) newspapers; 3) mixed paper (magazines, books without covers, notebooks, exercise books, paper, packaging, promotional brochures). On April 8, our school held a lecture for 7 classes, during which the representative of the company L & T Janis Aisbalts spoke about the need to sort garbage and introduced kids the project L & T ® Ekoskola. Also, a film about recycling paper was offered to the attention of students. At the end of the lecture the students asked various questions on this topic. A point to collect waste paper was established by L & T in our school. Three containers were installed in the classroom of Home economics . In one of them students had to collect office white paper, in the second - the newspapers, and in the third - mixed paper (magazines, books without covers, notebooks, wrapping paper, advertising leaflets). Our school collected 45 tons of waste paper and took the first place among 36 schools of Riga. Contests related environment took place in school parallel to collecting process.
